Post: Substance Misuse Practitioner
Ref: NPS 402
Hours: Part-time 22.5 hours per week
Salary: Band 4 £27,914 - £35,727
Location: County Based
Duration: Fixed-term until 31 March 2010 (with the possibility of extension for a further 1 month)

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Substance Misuse Practitioner to join the Substance Misuse Team. The team covers the whole of Nottinghamshire with bases in Nottingham and Mansfield. This post will be based in the County, with a requirement to work from all three of our County-based sites. Some travelling may therefore be required.

The core duties will include working with Probation Officers in the needs-led assessment of offenders and the formulation of detailed personal treatment and supervision plans, direct delivery of treatment and care plans to offenders and contributing to reports for court review hearings.

You will need to be able to demonstrate an in depth understanding of the dynamics of drug dependency and offending and the interpersonal skills to gain the confidence of the courts, offenders and other agencies. Work with offenders will require the ability to balance care values against the demands of a rigorous criminal justice framework. The ability to contribute to the development of a consistent and effective team approach will be essential.

The successful candidate will manage busy caseloads and must be able to prioritise tasks effectively and appropriately. You will work in close collaboration with the local drug treatment agencies and a good working knowledge of services for substance misusers is therefore necessary.
