Article Title:Notts Probation takes justice on the road

NPT staff and criminal justice agency colleagues are taking justice on the road and out to the community, as they join a specially converted 'Justice Bus' at West Bridgford's Lark in the Park Festival on Wednesday 4th August and the Nottingham's Riverside Festival on Friday 6th - Red justice busSunday 8th August.

The ‘Justice Bus’, will provide an opportunity for people to talk to staff from agencies including Probation, Police, Courts and Prison services,  finding out more about our work and increasing their awareness of the criminal justice system.

The bus will be a hive of activity with attractions including role-play scenarios demonstrating what happens in court, information for young people who are witnesses, and stalls from each of the criminal justice agencies.

Signage for the Justice bus has been produced by offenders at The Create Workshop  - an NPT-run art project which encourages engagement in positive activity.

Jane Geraghty, Chair of Nottinghamshire Criminal Justice Board and Chief Executive of Nottinghamshire Probation Trust said: "The Justice Bus is exactly the kind of scheme the Local Criminal Justice Board wants to support; it is through partnership the Criminal Justice System can best serve our communities. I am proud Nottinghamshire Probation Trust has given the Create Workshop the opportunity to contribute through designing and applying the signage for the bus."

Graham Hooper, Justices’ Clerk said: "The Justice Bus is a really exciting opportunity for magistrates and court staff to demonstrate, in a slightly unreal environment, a very real and important part of the criminal justice system. I hope  visitors to the two events will find time to join us for an insight into the workings of a magistrates’ court and see how the work of all agencies involved in dealing with offenders contributes to the trial and sentencing process. So, if you get the chance, get on the bus!"

The Justice Bus will be at each of the above events from 10am - 4pm.
