Nottinghamshire Probation Area’s new office in Arrival Square, Mansfield was officially opened by the Mayor of Mansfield, Tony Egginton on Monday 30 November. This follows the relocation of Probation staff and services to a modern building funded by the Ministry of Justice.
The new premises replace the former Probation offices on Nottingham Road and Sherwood Court, and bring together under one roof a wide range of services associated with the management and rehabilitation of offenders, including Community Payback, behaviour changing Programmes, treatment for substance misuse and Court liaison.
The opening is the culmination of over a years work in the planning and relocation of various teams to the building. The new facility will ensure offenders are able to access the support required to help move away from a life of crime – making Mansfield, Ashfield and the surrounding area safer for local people.
Rob Moore, Director of Finance and Resources at Nottinghamshire Probation Area said: ‘The Arrival Square office is modern, accessible and provides a working environment well suited to the delivery of our services. The relocation is instrumental in helping us achieve our aims of reducing reoffending and protecting the public and this investment reinforces our commitment to crime reduction’.
Tony Egginton, Executive Mayor of Mansfield District Council said: “The Arrival Square development provides much-needed quality office accommodation in the heart of Mansfield and I am delighted that the Nottinghamshire Probation Service has opted to make it their new home.
“It is ideally located between the railway station and the site for the new bus station which will help make the service much more accessible, as well as providing a boost to retailers by basing employees in the town centre.
“Mansfield District Council works very closely with the Probation Service and other partners through the Mansfield Partnership Against Crime and I am sure that the relocation can only help to strengthen our joint efforts towards a safer Mansfield.”
