Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA)

Nottinghamshire Probation Trust works with the Police and Prison Service to manage the supervision
in the community of the most dangerous offenders, including violent and sexual offenders.
These three agencies are known as the MAPPA Responsible Authority.

Other agencies are under a duty to co-operate with the Responsible Authority these include:

  • Children's Services
  • Adult Social Services
  • Health Trusts and Authorities
  • Youth Offending Teams
  • Local Housing Authorities
  • Certain Registered Social landlords
  • Jobcentre plus and
  • Electronic Monitoring providers.
Members of the public are appointed as Lay Advisers to the MAPPA Strategic Management Board.  Their vital role as independent and informed observers enables a local community aspect and understanding to be maintained.

Intensive supervision plans are designed to minimise the risk to the public from this group of offenders.
