Approved Premises
There are three Approved Premises (sometimes referred to as hostels) in Nottinghamshire in which probation staff provide a structured and supportive setting for:
- Offenders who have committed serious offences, who might otherwise be in custody and who are in need of enhanced supervision
- Individuals on bail who are pleading not guilty and awaiting trial
- Those on bail who are awaiting conviction/sentence
Staff assist residents to complete a crime free period of bail and supervision. They also help residents make specific plans for future accommodation, work, training and education. Residents must abide by strict rules, including a night time curfew.
Hostel staff also assess the risk posed by residents both to themselves and the general public and liaise with other criminal justice agencies wherever appropriate.
